The map shifts

Week one loaded the server with four marquee titles, each carrying a prize pool of up to $2 million: Valorant, Apex Legends, Dota 2, and the freshly added Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The Road to EWC circuit had already filled 598 of 690 qualification slots — nearly 87% — before the opening ceremony at La Seine Musicale on July 8, where Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora set the stage ahead of the first championship weekend. Trackmania joins the EWC lineup for the first time, Fortnite returns through the Reload Elite Series Championship, and StarCraft II has been cut from the schedule.

Defending the flanks

The Club Championship remains the structural spine of the event. $30 million from the overall prize pool distributes to the top 24 organizations based on cross-title performance, rewarding groups that field competitive rosters across multiple games rather than one standout squad. Team Spirit, Team Falcons, Gen.G Esports, and OpTic Gaming headline the returning champions, though not every title holder walks through the door automatically. KuaiShou Gaming, which took the Street Fighter 6 championship in 2025, is not eligible for a direct invite — under the Title Defender rules, clubs must retain at least one active starter from their winning roster, and KuaiShou's title-winning player has transferred on.

Reading the bracket

Last Chance Qualifiers, wildcard tournaments, and extended group stages run alongside the main championships across all seven weeks. Riyadh remains central to the EWC's long-term roadmap and is expected to host the tournament again in 2027, meaning Paris is effectively a seven-week audition for Europe's competitive crowd and infrastructure. The first round of championship weekends will set the early tone for the Club Championship race and reveal which organizations are fielding genuine cross-title depth versus single-title one-offs.
